Astronomy weather forecasts for stargazing and astrophotography

Plan your next observing session with detailed astronomy weather forecasts for any location. Explore hourly cloud cover, temperature, wind and precipitation, alongside astronomical seeing and atmospheric transparency to understand how well you'll be able to observe the night sky.

Check the Moon's phase, illumination and position, identify the best observing windows, and explore light pollution maps, live satellite cloud imagery and APEX sky simulations to find the right conditions for stargazing and astrophotography.

Surface weather: regional DMI, UKMO, KNMI, Meteo-France, NOAA HRRR or JMA forecasts where covered, with ECMWF IFS as the global baseline and DWD ICON / NOAA GFS fallbacks. Atmospheric profiles remain GFS-based. Model data are accessed via Open-Meteo. Source selection is not a guarantee of local accuracy.

Additional sources, when available: Copernicus CAMS for aerosol conditions and ECMWF for cloud-water forecast inputs. Sun, Moon and twilight calculations use Astronomy Engine locally, without an ephemeris download.

Seeing and transparency values are experimental DSS research estimates, not measured astronomical conditions or globally validated forecasts.
